The Bigger Badge Paradox, by Bob Johnson

In the UK Tottenham Hotspur just binned their manager.

It’s tremendously sad and completely predictable.

A manager leaves a strongly established mid-table club where they’ve built real credit, real goodwill, and real momentum.

They trade stability and status for the allure of a “bigger” badge even when that club is lower in the league.

They chase the name over the numbers.

It doesn’t work. The move backfires. And instead of stepping up, they end up stepping down, landing at a club worse than the one they originally left.

In trying to go bigger, they go backwards.
